I’M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

This is me being done with finals at 7:24

ALSO, at exactly 4:41, this is me taking my genetics final.

I SLAY THE BEAST.

And, as promised, here’s a close up of Michael’s glitter glove.

Here is the end product of yesterday’s work (you can’t really see the glitter but oh well):

And here’s what I got done today. The colors got kinda blue’d-out in this one because the sun started going down:

Tomorrow I will FINISH!

I think I’m going to try and go in with an electric purple color and write Michael Jackson 1958-2009 in some 80’s style lettering. I was going to do a quote, or write “King of Pop” or something with the dates but…. I don’t know. I feel like the moat murals alllllways have some quote or something, and it’s kinda annoying. Also, I’d hate to basically just write “This is Michael Jackson, just so you know… in case you didn’t already get that from the pose, clothes, and fucking glitter glove.”

I don’t know. I’m torn because I feel like writing Michael Jackson on there would just be stupid… BUT there’s all that negative space and alllllll the lines in the painting are pointing to it. My eyes want to see something there. But a sappy quote? Hells no. His name and year of birth and death? Maybe, but not really. UGH this is so harddddddd!

But at the same time….

The top three most common things I hear from passersby:

  1. “Whoa that’s cool but…. is the glitter going to stay?”
  2. “Shit dude thats fucking rad you incorporated rastafarian Bob Marly colors in there.”
  3. “Wait….. that’s…… Michael…. umm… Jackson? Right?”

JAYSUS!

  1. no it’s just temporary glitter…stfu I have no idea! Come back in September and see for yourself assholes!
  2. First, when did red yellow and BLUE become the new rasta? Second, stfu Santa Cruz!
  3. no its his brother Tito Jackson.

In other news, Sean Oxford is, and always will be, my bffaeaeaeae

ANOTHER SUDDEN SUBJECT CHANGE!

A few days ago Muriel and her friend Leah pooled their hall funds and had a free really dank Mexican food event. They ordered five gallons of horchata! MMM IN MY BELLY

This is my plate of rice, beans, GUACAMOLE, salsa fresca, and chicken enchiladas…

And this is it 2 seconds later…

In my belly.

And then…. this little guy just kinda showed up and got placed on our table…

But it was all good because we went outside to digest and I had a little epiphany about, well, by and by this has been a pretty great year. Not going to lie, it had its ups and it had its intense lows… and sometimes those times happened simultaneously. But, it’s all worth it and manageable with great women around me like these (and, of course, jason my loveee):

Goodbye Sophmore year.

I am halfway done with college!

And now you know

YES ESLP IS OVER!

ESLP= Education for sustainable living AKA the hippiest class Ev.Er!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, a little disclaimer, ESLP was pretty sweet… I mean it was the catalyst for my beehive, which I can now give credit to a 5-credits of easy A+ on my transcript. So yes, my section group was really legit…. but Monday night lecture… not down. SO corny (KHORN.).

Every single stinkin’ lecture we had to do this dance!

And then usually a speaker or two would come through and start with some poem about how we thank the Mother Earth for the birds’ songs awakening our hearts in the morning, and we thank the trees for being our protectors. One night, we actually had a DRUM CIRCLE. For THREE HOURS. With FOUR HUNDRED PEOPLE. Whhhhattttttt????? And we did a big game of limbo at the end which represented us coming from the past, limbo-ing creatively through the present, and passing on into the FUTUREEEE ANDD BEYOONNDDDD!!!!!! SANTA CRUZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!

For the ‘final’ our section group had to present what we did to the lecture.

Grant saved the day and showed up with his guitar and prime lyrics about our food foraging/networking project/website.

This is us practicing for our final presentation HAHAHAHA

breakin’ and boppin’

First order of business:

Before you read any further, I decree that anyone who wishes to pursue the rest of this post immediately open a new tab or window and make a “Gap Band” channel on pandora. Also, if you feel the need to get up and dance at any moment, feel free to do so.

Now, on to the REAL procrastination.

Thursday before our HEFTY Scientific Research Diving Final (which literally took a FULL 3 hours–longer for others! Yikes!) we all donned our Legit with a capital L tees that Patrick designed and presented them to Dave and Steve. Hahaha, imagine if you were presented with a shirt that had your face photoshopped onto it by a flock of people wearing your face!

THEN the fun stopped and the final happened. Gross.

In other news,

I checked the bees last Friday! On one hand, they’re doing great! On the other hand… I think they might be doing great. I was really confused because I couldn’t see any larva. Queenie? What are you doing???

AND, the capping was occuring towards the top of the comb, not right in the middle. But, it was still getting capped in a circular shape from the middle –> out, which is a good thing.

AND, there were a few empty queen cells. Does this mean that there have been new queens birthed already? Or were these cells simply insurance policies that were aborted later? Has my hive split already? Would they even do that their first few weeks of being in a new home?

There weren’t as many ladies home as I thought there would be, this could be for a number of reasons

  1. it was a hot midday when I checked, so maybz they’re just out foraging
  2. ….they swarmed??!?!?
  3. … no queenie :(

But I sweeearrrr there has to be a queen! But what my fear is, is that there was a queen. I’ll check back when I get back from Big Sur before I leave for summer and get them all set up.

Either way, I put in a new big batch of sugar syrup to keep em goin and drawing out more comb.

A look inside:

Searching for babies

Three or four bars stuck together in the crazy area!

Then, I went to the beach to do some “studying.” AKA fell asleep for 2 hours and then picked up sea glass and ran around and went skinny dipping haha.

This is what having the beach ALL TO MYSELF allll day looks like:

The next day I came back to 3 mile for bottling my brew! I was telling my dad about it, and he’s REALLY excited about it ahahaha! He REALLY wants some! bahaha.

First, pick out some bottles and wash rinse them out. If there’s mold inside, you gotta use the bottle brush and get that shit out, son!

EW OKAY STORY TIME

“EW there’s a huge hunk of mold in this one! It won’t come out no matter what I do…”

*takes closer, longer look.*

*mold moves*

“…..whhhhaaa–???”

*mold squirms*

“OH FUCK THAT’S A FUCKING BIG ASS SLUG IN THERE NOOOOOOOO FUUUUUUUUUU OH MY GODDDDDD NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

*rejects bottle and puts it aside*

The slug is in………………………………………………^ this bottle (the far left IPA on the bench)

Once they’re clean, sterilize them for 5 minutes.

Then let air dry upside down. A towel lined tub works well.

Then add the beer and cap it off with some bottling sugar in there! Let it lay for some weeks and voila!

Another quick quip I’ve been pondering is, well, no more dorms for the REST OF MY LIFE!

This is what the final batch of laundry ever done in the dorms looks like:

This is only a fraction of what being a scuba diver looks like in the dorms

Not sure if I’m going to try and keep these loteria cards or not… I mean I can always get another pack for like two bucks. Is it worth trying to keep them in good condition through the move?

And finally, this is probably the last time EVER in my whole LIFE my clothes will ever be organized in rainbow order haha.

Goodbye dorms, it’s been swell… NOT.
